A new episode of violence has been reported in the municipality of Elota, following the discovery of coolers containing human remains accompanied by threatening messages. The discovery was made near the municipal seat, on the state highway that connects La Cruz with the community of Potrerillos.

According to the report from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), the discovery was reported by passersby, prompting an immediate mobilization of state and federal security forces.

At the indicated location, authorities found two coolers, one blue and one black. After an initial inspection, it was confirmed that they contained human remains, whose identity and sex have not yet been determined by forensic experts.

A piece of cardboard with explicit threats, signed by one of the criminal factions actively vying for territorial control in Sinaloa, was left on top of the containers.

This incident adds to the recent wave of homicides and disappearances that has plagued the southern and central regions of the state this year.

Personnel from the Directorate of Forensic Investigation processed the scene to collect evidence and secure the message, which was added to the corresponding case file. The remains were transferred to the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO) for DNA testing to facilitate their prompt identification.

To date, no municipal or state authority has issued a statement regarding possible arrests related to this event. The area remained under the protection of the National Guard while the investigation was carried out.
