In 2023, a video on social media led to the identification of Julio César Chávez Jr. as a public figure of interest to Mexican authorities due to his closeness to Néstor Isidro Pérez Salas, known as El Nini, who at the time served as the head of Los Chapitos’ bodyguards.

Chávez Jr. was arrested on July 2 in a popular neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, and is subject to expedited deportation proceedings because the Mexican government has had an open case and an arrest warrant against him for organized crime and firearms trafficking since 2023.

The video, published in October 2023, shows influencer Markitos Boys, who has also been identified as a subject of interest for ties to Los Chapitos, showing off the dashboard of a Lamborghini Urus luxury SUV.

“I don’t like to use this one because it’ll get old, but I’ve got it stored here. And I don’t like making videos because they’ll say it later, you know what people are going to say,” the influencer can be heard saying.

“Well, if you deserve it, then bring it,” Julio César Chávez Jr. can be heard responding.
