Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has offered a substantial reward for one of the leaders of Los Chapitos, Jesús Alfredo Guzmán Salazar, who is wanted by U.S. authorities for $10 million.

According to the statement, Alfredo, alias “Alfredillo” or “El Gordo,” son of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán Loera, is one of the leaders of the Los Chapitos faction, considered a terrorist organization by the U.S. Department of Justice.
This reward is part of the Trump administration’s strategy to strengthen the pursuit of drug traffickers in light of the public health crisis the country has faced due to the trafficking of cocaine and fentanyl.

The Sinaloa Cartel is facing unprecedented challenges, considering the captures of key figures such as José Ángel Canobbio Inzunza, alias “El Güerito”; Kevin Alonso Gil Acosta, alias “El 200”; and Mauro Alejandro Núñez Ojeda, alias “El Jando.” However, the Secretary of Citizen Security, Omar García Harfuch, has confessed in a press conference that the criminal organization is far from perishing, with only its factions having been weakened.

The statement was shared two weeks after the reward published for Iván Archivaldo, who is also wanted with a high reward of $10 million, as he is considered “armed and dangerous.” However, through the message, the US authorities caused controversy by asserting that “his fiery gaze” did not mean he was not a dangerous criminal, in charge of the Sinaloa Cartel.
