A video released on social media on January 15 shows the exact moment armed men arrive in a vehicle at the taco stand where crime reporter Carlos Castro was murdered.

The footage shows the assailants getting out of a car and, carrying long guns, firing directly at the reporter, who was inside the family-owned Trogue Birria restaurant, owned by his parents.

The release of this recording could provide new information about the execution, reigniting calls for justice amidst previous threats and disappearances related to the case, which occurred on January 8, 2026.

Carlos Castro was shot to death on the night of January 8, 2026, inside a restaurant owned by his family.

According to preliminary reports, armed men entered the establishment, located in the Cazones neighborhood, and opened fire directly, a fact confirmed by the recent release of the recording.

According to previous hypotheses from journalists, the gunmen may have shared the recording on social media to demonstrate their capacity to instill terror.

The footage, just over 30 seconds long, shows the attackers arriving and reporting what is happening via radio.

“He’s inside the taco stand, I’m going in now,” one of the gunmen can be heard saying before entering the business.

Meanwhile, on the radio frequency, they can be heard confirming the journalist’s presence.

“Where is he?” asks the person recording the video, still inside the vehicle.

“We can’t see him, we can’t see him, there’s an old woman way in there,” can be heard.

After that, the gunmen get out, go to the back of the business, and murder Carlos Castro.
