Omar García Harfuch, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), announced tonight the arrest of Hernán “N,” alias “El Abuelo,” alleged leader of the criminal organization “La Barredora,” as part of a joint operation led by the National Intelligence Center (CNI), the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena), the Ministry of the Navy (Semar), the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the National Guard (GN), and the SSPC.
The head of the SSPC reported in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that the participation of the Financial Intelligence Unit and the CNI was essential during the operation, “as well as the exchange of information made possible by the new Law of the National Investigation and Intelligence System.” García Harfuch also thanked the authorities of the Republic of Paraguay for their cooperation and support.
The SSPC announced in a press release that the South American country had obtained the location of “El Abuelo.” Subsequently, the necessary actions were implemented to capture him and transfer him to Mexican territory, where he was placed at the disposal of the corresponding authorities.
