Harfuch Denies Pedro Haces’ Links to “El Limones”

Pedro Haces Barba has no connection whatsoever with Edgar “N,” alias “El Limones,” assured the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuch.

In a press conference, the head of the agency, for the time being, distanced the Morena federal deputy, who has also served as a union leader for the Autonomous Confederation of Workers and Employees of Mexico (CATEM), from any link with the alleged criminal operative.

Harfuch’s clarification comes after Edgar “N,” alias “El Limones,” was identified as the plaza boss for the Los Cabrera criminal cell, affiliated with Los Mayos of the Sinaloa Cartel, and was also appointed in 2023 as CATEM’s Secretary of Organization in Durango.

“There are several crimes under investigation, but none are directly related to a union. We have no political connection to them. What we have linked is to a criminal cell operating in Durango and Coahuila, nicknamed Los Cabrera,” he said.

Harfuch also denied that CATEM has any connection to Edgar “N,” and emphasized that the open investigations are not targeting labor unions.

“The investigation began with specific complaints about extortion that are not linked to any union. It’s direct extortion, from charging business owners and farmers, to charging for water,” he said in response to press questions about a possible connection between El Limones and Pedro Haces.

The secretary recalled that a money laundering scheme operated in the states of Durango and Coahuila, headed by Edgar “N,” which served as the financial base that allowed his criminal group to maintain its economic operations and continue its criminal activities in the region.

He also explained that the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF), under the Ministry of Finance, was the one that identified several unusual transactions linked to Edgar “N”.
