On the night of December 21, gunshots were reported at a restaurant located in the Zona Rosa district of the Cuauhtémoc borough in Mexico City. Mexico City police confirmed the death of one person as a result of the attack.
“According to initial reports, a woman and two men were eating at the restaurant when two individuals arrived, opened fire, and fled on a motorcycle,” states a preliminary report from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC).
One man died at the scene, while another person was wounded and taken to a hospital. Reports shared on social media indicate that the restaurant where the violent incident occurred is known as Luaú and is of Asian descent.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office was notified of the incident so that forensic services and investigations could begin. Meanwhile, Mexico City police are reviewing surveillance camera footage from the area to try to locate the attackers.
