On May 25, the members of Grupo Fugitivo and their manager lost contact with their families after allegedly going to a place that, upon arrival, turned out to be a vacant lot.
Just a day earlier, the young musicians had shared a video of one of their performances on social media, causing controversy due to their performance of the corrido “El dueño del palenque” by the group Los Alegres del Barranco.
The song, known for its themes associated with drug trafficking, generated controversy due to the location where it was performed: Reynosa, Tamaulipas, a region marked by the presence of criminal groups.
On social media, it was suggested that this performance could have been the reason for the disappearance of the musicians, who were known for entertaining local events in the border city.
“As soon as they start singing that song by (Pavel Moreno) Los Alegres del Barranco in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, well, WOW, it’s an offense,”
