In less than two years, the Texan group Grupo Frontera achieved a record only a few musicians worldwide can achieve: one of their videos reached one billion views on YouTube.
This is the video for the song “El amor de su vida,” which premiered on August 3, 2023, and with which Grupo Frontera won the Latin Grammy for Best Regional Mexican Song in 2024.
The first to surpass the one billion views barrier on the platform was South Korean Psy, while other regional Mexican stars, such as Ángela Aguilar and Peso Pluma, and rock stars like Metallica, have also surpassed this mark.
The most recent success in Grupo Frontera’s rising career would not be possible without the collaboration they had with another of the genre’s greats, Grupo Firme, with whom they recorded the song.
“The collaboration between Grupo Frontera and Grupo Firme demonstrates the power of collaborative work within regional Mexican music and the growing popularity of the genre in Mexico, the United States, and diverse audiences globally.”
“Grupo Frontera’s entry into the YouTube Billion Views Club with ‘El amor de su vida’ is a historic achievement for both regional Mexican music and Believe,” said Alejandra Olea, general manager for the Americas of Believe’s management label.
