The mayor of Uruapan, Grecia Quiroz, publicly denounced what she called an attempted political impeachment, which she asserted was intended to silence her and weaken the social movement she led alongside her husband, Mayor Carlos Manzo, who was recently murdered.

In a message posted on her social media accounts, the mayor maintained that, following her husband’s murder, there are now actions directed against her aimed at discrediting her and removing her from office. “It wasn’t enough for them to silence Carlos; now they want to silence me,” she stated, which has generated reactions and concern among residents of the municipality.

Quiroz questioned why, to date, those responsible for Carlos Manzo’s murder have not been brought to justice. “They haven’t brought Carlos’s real killers to justice, and the people know it,” he wrote, while also asserting that the political project they both led arose from pain, but also from dignity.
