Her story isn’t the protagonist of Maná, the woman who stayed in the Port of San Blás waiting for her love her whole life.

However, María de Jesús Mundo, 80, died a few days ago inside the Puebla Bus Station (CAPU), waiting for her daughter. Grandmother’s story began as a local story, but a year ago, someone recorded it, and the video went viral on social media.

Exactly a year ago, Doña Mari’s moving story became known nationwide, as Grandmother spent her time waiting on a bench, next to her cane and a few belongings. The grandmother lived in a house located in Unidad San Andrés, in the municipality of Tehuacán, but she didn’t own the place, so at one point she could no longer pay the rent and was evicted.

When some people asked the woman why she was there, she replied that she was waiting for her relatives, who had supposedly immigrated to the United States. These people were identified as:

*Víctor Manuel Rivas Mundo
*Marina Guadalupe Rivas Mundo
*Alma Rivas Mundo

Last year, the Puebla State DIF System launched a campaign to locate Doña Mari’s children. “Help us locate relatives of Mrs. María de Jesús, who is currently in a vulnerable situation inside the Puebla bus station called Capu,” stated the 2024 bulletin, accompanied by a photograph of the woman.

Even now, the grandmother’s relatives are being searched for. She survived thanks to donations of clothing, food and money from people who use the Puebla Bus Station (CAPU) every day.
