The Sinaloa-based company Forrajes El Barrio denied any liability following the seizure of over 3,000 kilograms of methamphetamine—hidden among sacks of livestock feed bearing the company’s brand—by federal authorities this Tuesday on the Sonoyta–Puerto Peñasco highway in Sonora. The drugs were bound for Tijuana, Baja California.
Martha Reyes Zazueta, the company’s owner and president of Coparmex Sinaloa, publicly addressed the matter hours after the seizure was announced.
“We really cannot be held responsible for our products once they leave the factory,” Reyes Zazueta told the media outlet *El Sol de Sinaloa*. “It was neither Forrajes El Barrio personnel nor Forrajes vehicles involved.”
According to the business owner, the distribution process works as follows: customers arrive at the facility, purchase the product, and independently contract a trucking alliance for transport. That alliance is responsible for picking up and hauling the merchandise. Forrajes El Barrio, she noted, provides a bill of lading, an invoice, and the necessary legal customs documentation for every transaction.
