Brenda Valenzuela Gil, mother of Carlos Emilio, a young man who disappeared on October 5th in Terraza Valentino, called for the second time on families of missing persons to join the peaceful march they will hold next Saturday in Mazatlán.

Through her social media, Brenda Valenzuela published an invitation urging families of victims of the crime of forced disappearance to join.

“Dear friends, family, mothers, fathers, siblings, children, and society in general, we call on the entire community of Mazatlán and neighboring towns to march together,” the Facebook post reads.

The first attempt to publicly demonstrate in the streets of this tourist destination was on October 18th, but two days before, it was canceled due to unsafe conditions.

Fifteen days after the young man’s disappearance, they are issuing the call again. “A community that does not cry out in the face of injustice, evil, and crime is doomed. With the broken heart of a mother searching for her son, let’s go together to raise our voices for my son, Carlos Emilio, for all those missing, and so that not one more is missing,” the post states.

“Because we deserve to live safely, we deserve to live safely, we deserve justice, we deserve to hug those we love again,” Brenda Valenzuela added in her post.

Carlos Emilio’s disappearance has sparked outrage among the population, especially in the states bordering Sinaloa, where he eventually decided to vacation in Mazatlán.

On social media, people have questioned the authorities’ slowness in providing progress on the investigations that could help determine Carlos Emilio’s whereabouts, and they also criticize the lack of security in the city.

Durango authorities have also urged the population of that state not to travel to this port.

The governor, the prosecutor’s office, representatives, and business leaders have stated their position, considering that this is not the best time to travel to the port or engage in nightlife.

Carlos Emilio’s disappearance occurred at Terraza Valentino, where Secretary of Economy Ricardo (Pity) Velarde is a shareholder.

In August of this year, three young men were reported missing at the Los Cotorritos bar, also owned by the Secretary of Economy, but were found safe days later.
