Five people were rescued in two separate incidents on different parts of the Nevado de Colima volcano by Jalisco Civil Protection personnel. Tragically, one of them died.
Four young people between the ages of 20 and 23 were involved in the first incident. They became lost in the Los Arenales area, from where the last communication with them was obtained on December 12.
Rescue teams immediately combed the area to try to locate the hikers, who were from Colima. They found them exhausted, and one of them suffering from altitude sickness, but in relatively good health.
The young people were treated by paramedics at the scene and then taken to the local bus station to be transported back to their hometown. Elderly man dies of cardiac arrest
In the second incident, paramedics received a report of a 65-year-old man who had gone missing in the area known as Colimotes, also in the Nevado de Colima region.
Upon finding him, the paramedics took him to his truck, where he suffered a cardiac arrest. Despite the paramedics’ attempts to resuscitate him, the man died several minutes later.
