In a high-precision operation carried out Tuesday night, the elite PROTEO group, belonging to the State Citizen Security Force (FESC), dismantled a dangerous criminal cell in the municipality of Tecate, Baja California. The operation culminated in the arrest of four hitmen and the seizure of an arsenal of high-powered weapons and tactical equipment for exclusive use.
According to intelligence reports, the detainees are identified as alleged operatives of the “Cabo 27” group, a criminal faction directly linked to the “Los Mayos” organization. This arrest represents a strategic blow to the structure that sustains the current territorial disputes in the border region.
The capture of these individuals highlights the mobility of criminal cells, as three of the four involved come from other states in the country. The detainees were identified as:
Juan Daniel: 20 years old, from Tecate.
José Iván: 26 years old, from Tabasco.
Juan de Dios: 26 years old, from Sonora.
Edder Ulises: 20 years old, from Sonora.
During the tactical operation, members of the PROTEO group intercepted the suspects in a gray 1997 Nissan Sentra. A thorough inspection resulted in the seizure of the following weapons and ammunition: 5 AR-15 assault rifles.
3 Glock handguns.
7 magazines and 68 rounds of ammunition.
5 ballistic vests (high-level protective gear).
