On the afternoon of October 7, relatives and friends of Kimberly, the 16-year-old girl who has been missing since October 2 in Naucalpan, blocked the Periférico Norte highway to demand that authorities locate her alive. The group of protesters blocked traffic in both directions, demanding concrete progress in the investigation and denouncing the possibility that the person detained in the case could be released in the coming hours.
Carrying banners and shouting slogans such as “We’re not all here, we need Kim,” the relatives warned that they would not cease their protest until they receive conclusive answers about the whereabouts of the CCH Naucalpan student.
Pleas for the authorities’ intervention in what they consider a slow and opaque process could be heard among the crowd. “My daughter disappeared on October 2nd of this year, at 4:15 p.m. She never returned, my girl. My daughter left home at 3:56 p.m. If you notice, it was only 15, 20 minutes. She went out to get some copies; she studies at the CCH in Naucalpan (…) It’s October 6th, and I haven’t heard from my daughter. A man, approximately 47, 50 years old, was arrested and running toward her (…) They’ve had him at the prosecutor’s office since Saturday. What are they waiting for?” declared Kimberly’s mother.
Kimberly’s disappearance was recorded on October 2nd, when she left her home to get copies at an internet cafe. Her absence was immediately reported to the authorities, who activated an Amber Alert to expedite the search.
