Is it possible to say that there is currently a Juangamania? Alberto Aguilera Valadez, better known as Juan Gabriel, “El Divo de Juárez,” died nine years ago, and his music, far from fading away, has accumulated millions of plays on all digital platforms, not counting the thousands of people who still play his physical albums or listen to him on the radio.

A Juan Gabriel song plays every second. According to data from Spotify and YouTube Music, 14,321,505 people listen to his music every month. This means that half a million people listen to “Juanga” every day; that his songs play 19,890 times every hour.

More than 300 people choose one of his songs every second.

The most listened to are “Abrázame muy fuerte” and “Así fue.” The latter, in its version for the concert at the Palace of Fine Arts, has garnered 1.099 billion views. Juan Gabriel’s official channel, with only 269 videos available in 2020 alone, has accumulated 8.94 billion views.
