A joint operation by the Sonora Security Cabinet resulted in the capture of Abdel “N,” alias El Toro, and Miguel Ángel “N,” alias El Torito, alleged members of the Los Rusos criminal cell, affiliated with the Sinaloa Cartel, specifically the La Mayiza faction.
The arrest, confirmed by the head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuch, stemmed from a homicide investigation and took place between 5:06 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the municipality of San Luis Río Colorado at a residence in the Altar neighborhood, on Reforma Agraria Avenue, between 37th and 38th Streets.
During the arrest, authorities also seized 44 packages containing a white, granular substance, consistent with methamphetamine, weighing an estimated 445.9 kilograms, as well as 58 additional bags containing 36.6 kilograms of the same narcotic, for a total of 481.5 kilograms seized.
A gray 2005 Mazda 6 with license plates was also confiscated at the scene, along with a spent 9mm shell casing. A forensic expert certified the packaging of the evidence in accordance with chain of custody protocols, while the property was placed under the custody of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which ordered its securing.
