Cristian Alejandro Villegas Hernández, alias “El Quesero,” an alleged member of a cell of the Arellano Félix cartel, was shot and killed during a funeral at the Jardín Cemetery.

The attack occurred Thursday afternoon when an armed man stormed into the cemetery and opened fire on at least five people who were mourning a family member.

They were burying Humberto Romero Alcántar, 32, who had died days earlier after being shot on the night of December 31, 2025, in the Alemán neighborhood.

Witnesses told police that the assailant was a thin man with a beard and mustache, dressed in dark clothing, who arrived at the cemetery and opened fire directly on those attending.

After the attack, the assailant fled toward the cemetery entrance and escaped. During the incident, Villegas Hernández, 34, a Tijuana native, was wounded by a gunshot.

People attending the funeral decided to remove him from the cemetery and take him in a private vehicle to Guadalajara Hospital.

Outside the hospital, Red Cross paramedics confirmed that he had no vital signs, having suffered gunshot wounds to his chest and left arm.
