The Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation’s (SCJN) ruling in favor of Sandra Ávila Beltrán, known as “The Queen of the Pacific,” against Telemundo Network Group for the unauthorized use of her image in the promotion of the series “La Reina del Sur,” has opened a legal path already being explored by other figures and their families whose stories have been brought to the screen without their consent.

Isaac Razo Reyes, Ávila Beltrán’s lawyer, confirmed that the family of kidnapper Daniel Arizmendi López, alias “The Ear Chopper,” and one of Pablo Escobar’s sons are preparing to claim royalties and rights derived from the commercial exploitation of their images in television productions.
