Joaquín Guzmán López, known as “El Güero” and son of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, will plead guilty on Monday, December 1, to at least one charge related to drug trafficking.
This information was released on the afternoon of Friday, November 28, 2025, through a court document from the District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago.
The document states that the hearing will take place on Monday, December 1, at 1:30 p.m. At this hearing, Guzmán López is expected to change his plea, as he currently faces five charges related to drug trafficking, organized crime, and firearms possession.
In September, specialist David Saucedo, in an interview for La Saga’s YouTube channel, described an internal coordination dynamic to avoid direct impacts on the criminal group’s structure, while Guzmán López sought prison benefits in the United States.
