Ricardo Ruíz Velasco, alias ‘RR,’ ‘El Doble R,’ or ‘El Tripa,’ leader of one of the main armed groups of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), is believed to be responsible for the murder of Valeria Márquez, the influencer who was attacked during a live broadcast this Tuesday in Zapopan, according to the first line of investigation in the case.

According to Jalisco authorities, Ricardo Ruíz Velasco had been in a romantic relationship with Valeria Márquez for several months, and the established hypothesis is that ‘RR’ was upset with the influencer because she received expensive gifts from her fans.

Hours before the murder, Valeria Márquez posted a video on her social media bragging about receiving an expensive gift. Later, a man posing as a delivery man arrived at Valeria’s beauty salon and shot her, hitting her twice, once in the chest and once in the head. She died instantly.

Ricardo Ruíz Velasco is the leader of the CJNG’s Elite Group, the group waging a bloody war against the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel in Guanajuato.

‘El Doble R’ implicated in the murder of ‘El Pirata de Culiacán’

This is not the first case in which Ricardo Ruíz Velasco’s name has been linked to the murder of a woman. In 2012, he participated in the murder of Venezuelan Daisy Ferrer Arenas, whose body was found in a sewage canal on the streets of the Oblatos neighborhood in Guadalajara.

He is also implicated in the murder of Juan Luis Lagunas, known as ‘El Pirata de Culiacán’.
