The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, announced the capture of Gerardo Rodríguez Guizar, alias “El Congo,” a regional operative for a criminal cell of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in Uruapan and implicated in the murder of former mayor Carlos Manzo.
On his Twitter account, Harfuch wrote that in the early morning hours in Michoacán, authorities led by the State Attorney General’s Office, in coordination with the National Defense Secretariat, the Navy Secretariat, the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, the National Guard, and the State Security Secretariat, arrested “El Congo.”
The official wrote that the detainee is identified as a member of the criminal cell that carried out an attack against the mayor of Uruapan on November 1.
