Federal forces, in coordination with Morelos authorities, arrested Antonio Bautista Vargas, alias “El Cabañas,” in Cuernavaca. He is linked to kidnapping, homicide, extortion, and drug dealing, as well as being the mastermind of the attack in which three federal police officers were injured. Cristina Mejía Valente was also arrested.
After members of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) were attacked on October 18, 2025, at around 12:00 p.m. in Acapulco, Guerrero, authorities belonging to the Security Cabinet, along with the Guerrero State Police, the Prosecutor’s Office, and the Morelos State Police, arrested six people.
Armed individuals attacked the authorities, so they repelled the attack. The confrontation resulted in three injuries, all of whom were taken to a hospital. Marcos García Cirila, alias “Zorro,” was arrested at the scene, and another attacker was killed.
According to information released by authorities, a coordinated operation was deployed on the Autopista del Sol highway near the Paso-Morelos toll booth. Abad Bautista Gregorio, Pedro Jesús Quintero Castro, and León Monto Alejandro were arrested. They were identified as hitmen for the “Los Rusos” criminal group operating in Acapulco, Guerrero. According to official information, 90 doses of crystal meth and 10 doses of marijuana were seized from them.
