Federal authorities dismantled a high-capacity clandestine laboratory for the production of synthetic drugs in the municipality of Petatlán, Guerrero. The lab was allegedly linked to Inés Omar Coronel Aispuro, brother of Emma Coronel Aispuro, wife of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, according to evidence gathered during the investigation.

The operation, led by members of the Mexican Navy (Semar) in coordination with the Ministry of National Defense (Defensa), the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the National Guard, and the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), represented a significant blow to drug trafficking networks in the region, as the facility was capable of simultaneously producing different types of drugs.

During ground patrols, federal forces located a warehouse containing chemical precursors and a clandestine camp allegedly used for the production of synthetic drugs.

At the site, approximately 24,920 liters and more than 12,200 kilograms of various chemical substances, considered high-risk to public health, were seized and rendered unusable.

According to official information, the laboratory had the capacity for the simultaneous production of methamphetamines, designer drugs known as tusi, and synthetic opioids—an uncommon characteristic among clandestine facilities, which generally specialize in a single substance.

The ability to produce three types of drugs is significant compared to other clandestine laboratories, which typically specialize in only one substance.
