A judge formally charged Alfredo “N,” alias “Sierra 2,” and his alleged partner, María Aleyda “N,” on July 2nd for their probable involvement in drug trafficking, possession of a firearm restricted to the Armed Forces, and misuse of a vehicle identification number.

The ruling comes one day after the same court formally charged his brother, Ernesto Rafael “N,” alias “Sierra 1,” the alleged leader of the criminal group known as Los Sierra or the Altozano Cartel. Along with “Sierra 1,” a woman was arrested and is also facing charges.

In the case of “Sierra 2” and his alleged partner, the judge ordered pretrial detention for the federal crime of possessing weapons restricted to the armed forces and for the state crimes, setting a 30-day deadline for the completion of the supplementary investigation.

Both were arrested on June 25 on the Siglo XXI Highway in an operation directly related to the capture of “Sierra 1” hours earlier.
