The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) has confirmed the identity of the body of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias El Mencho, and has genetically verified that it is indeed the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. “Ministerial, forensic, and Federal Ministerial Police (PFM) personnel traveled to the town of Tapalpa, Jalisco, for the recovery, processing, and formal identification of the bodies of other individuals who died at the scene,” the agency stated in a press release.
The Federal Public Prosecutor ordered the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) to conduct forensic examinations and autopsies to identify the three bodies that arrived from Tapalpa, Jalisco, in an Army airlift. This unit determined that one of the bodies is that of Oseguera, and the genetic identification process was performed.
Meanwhile, the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Regional Control (FECOR) has opened 57 investigations in 14 states across Mexico into the wave of violence that erupted in response to the drug lord’s death. Jalisco accounts for 37 of these investigations.
