On April 8, 2026, the disappearance of four teenagers in Zamora, Michoacán, triggered an alert within the community and among state authorities. Melanie Guadalupe B. V., Luna Hiromi V. F., Naomi Nicole G. R., and Estefanía Elvira G. D.—aged between 14 and 16—were last seen around 4:00 p.m.
Their disappearance—occurring as a group and in broad daylight—prompted a search effort by the Michoacán State Attorney General’s Office; however, to date, these efforts have yielded no results in locating the four minors.
Currently, Zamora lacks its own specialized unit dedicated to the search for missing persons. Although a project existed to establish a local branch of the Michoacán Search Commission, it has yet to materialize. Given the lack of time to set up a new office before the current municipal administration concludes its term, state authorities are exploring the possibility of integrating a specific division within the State Commission to handle cases originating in the municipality. In the interim, the search for the minors is being conducted with the support of state and federal agencies.
