The Trump administration has linked Michael Jordan’s Jumpman logo to Venezuelan gang members after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials identified the migrants, from that Latin American country and linked to the Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang, as wearing clothing, shoes, and even tattoos featuring the Jumpman logo and Jordan’s number 23 from his Chicago Bulls NBA jersey when they were detained.
A checklist, dubbed the Alien Enemy Validation Guide by the Department of Homeland Security, indicates that a person must be deported under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 if they are wearing jerseys, shoes, or tattoos linked to Jordan’s Jumpman when detained by ICE. In addition to the Jumpman logo and Jordan’s number 23 on clothing, shoes, or tattoos, U.S. immigration authorities indicate that people with tattoos of AK-47 rifles, stars, crowns, watches, trains, or the phrase “Real Till Death” will also be considered enemy aliens who merit deportation.
