Claudia Sheinbaum is taking a break from her presidential schedule this Friday. Minutes before the morning press conference, the President announced that she woke up with a bad flu, a cough, and a fever; consequently, she is following her doctors’ advice to rest.

The announcement was made at 6:01 a.m. on August 21, prior to the conference she usually leads from the National Palace. Sheinbaum clarified that her condition is not serious and estimated that she would be able to resume her activities this Saturday.

The morning press conference will still take place, but this time it will be led by Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez, Secretary of the Interior, and Joel Omar Vázquez Herrera, Director General of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).

What happened to President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo?

The President explained that symptoms appeared on Friday morning and that, due to the flu, cough, and fever, she was advised by her doctors to rest.

So far, she has not reported any complications or further changes to her schedule for the coming days.

“I am sure I will resume my activities tomorrow. Sending a warm hug from afar,” she noted.
