Sergio “Checo” Pérez once again demonstrated that, in addition to his passion for Formula 1, soccer holds a special place among his passions. Just hours before the highly anticipated clash between Mexico and England for a spot in the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Guadalajara native appeared at the Silverstone circuit wearing the Mexican national team jersey, a gesture that did not go unnoticed in Britain.

The image of the Mexican driver quickly spread across social media after Formula 1 itself shared photos of his arrival in the paddock accompanied by the phrase “In enemy territory,” referring to the predominantly English atmosphere surrounding the British Grand Prix and the World Cup match being played on the same day.

Pérez’s appearance took place at one of motorsport’s most iconic venues, where a new round of the Formula 1 World Championship is being held this weekend.

While the spotlight is on the British Grand Prix, the Mexican driver took the opportunity to publicly express his support for the team managed by Javier Aguirre.
