Bobby Pulido is saying goodbye to the stage for good. After 30 years of a successful career in music, he has decided to change course and focus on building a career as a politician in his home state of Texas.
As part of this farewell, the performer has recorded a two-volume album titled Bobby Pulido & Friends, Una Tuya y Una Mia, featuring other great exponents of regional Mexican music.
He is also about to conclude his “Por la Puerta Grande” tour, a show that toured much of Mexico and the United States. He will be returning to the National Auditorium on August 9th to bid farewell to his audience and fully enter the world of politics, running for Congress for the state of Texas.
“I’m very excited and grateful,” Bobby expressed during a conversation with MILENIO. “After almost 30 years of career, being able to say goodbye to the stage with this concept, which allowed me to sing with my friends, is something to be thankful for,” he said.
On the album, Pulido performs a song by each guest artist in his own style, and the end result was so many tracks that the material had to be compiled in two volumes. “It’s different to sing a song like David Bisbal’s ‘Dígale’ with my style; then, being able to do it with him and having him put on his Tejano style is magical to me. Making a song like ‘Sergio el bailador’ with Bronco, which is iconic, is priceless. The project has turned out better than I expected,” he stated excitedly.
This album also included a song with his father, the legendary Tejano music pioneer Roberto Pulido, which Bobby considers a great gift, as he was able to share a studio with the 75-year-old musician again. And although he missed some friends, with whom he couldn’t coordinate schedules, he’s very proud of the result.
The recording took place in December of last year in Monterrey, Nuevo León, and both albums featured stars such as David Bisbal, Alicia Villarreal, Bronco, Majo Aguilar, Los Socios del Ritmo, and Kinky.
“God helped me line everything up; I had to learn their songs and rehearse them during a sound check and perform them live that night. This speaks to the talent that was present that night. Normally, amateurs say they should rehearse for a few days, but we didn’t have that time,” he explained.
