Benoni Fernández Rosas, a man linked to former mayor Sandra Cuevas of the Cuauhtémoc borough, with whom he was seen on several occasions and even in photographs, was arrested in possession of weapons and drugs on the streets of the Gustavo A. Madero borough by intelligence agents of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC).
This man was seen on several occasions alongside the former mayor, whom he helped organize the biker ride held on August 31, 2025, where a person lost their life after being run over by a motorcyclist.
On that occasion, Benoni approached Sandra Cuevas to greet her, holding a small toy to hug her; later, they both got into a luxury RZR vehicle to be photographed with the attendees of the event in the city center.
Benoni Fernández, identified as a perpetrator of violence involved in drug trafficking and extortion, was arrested by intelligence agents of the Mexico City Police Department (SSC) in the Gustavo A. Madero borough. He was armed and in possession of just over 100 doses of drugs.
The suspect was identified in investigations by the Mexico City police as a perpetrator of violence and a member of a criminal cell operating in the northern part of the city. According to arrest reports, Benoni was apprehended alongside two other individuals, a woman and a man, who identified themselves as Jazive Denisse Soria and Milton César Cruz Martínez.
The arrests occurred Friday night when intelligence agents tasked with investigating high-impact crimes traveled to the Gustavo A. Madero borough to conduct surveillance on Benoni.
It was during surveillance they established at the intersection of Eje 4 Norte and Avenida Gran Canal in the San Pedro El Chico neighborhood that they observed the target, accompanied by two other individuals, handling various small bags for street-level drug sales.
Upon witnessing this activity, the officers exited their vehicles and intercepted the individuals, seizing a handgun, a magazine, and seven live rounds; in addition, they confiscated 91 doses of a substance resembling cocaine, 10 small plastic bags containing suspected marijuana, a bag with nearly 3 kilograms of the same substance, two cell phones, two backpacks, cash, and a maroon pickup truck.
After cross-referencing information, the agents learned that Benoni Fernández had a prior conviction in the prison system for aggravated robbery in 2019, and another conviction in the state of Veracruz.
The investigation indicates that the suspects are linked to the murder of a man in the same area where they established their operations.
Sandra Cuevas has been connected to other alleged criminal figures. In September 2025, she admitted to a brief romantic relationship with Alejandro Gilmare, alias “El Choko,” leader of La Chokiza, a group that extorts money from businesses in the State of Mexico.
Additionally, SSC agents arrested a former public servant from the Cuauhtémoc borough during Cuevas’s administration: Osvaldo Giovanni Mata, alias “El Topo,” who was a member of La Unión Tepito.
The three arrested individuals were turned over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for a determination of their legal status.
