Arnold Schwarzenegger is in the middle of a controversy after addressing the anti-Trump protests in the United States over the massive raids against millions of migrants.
During his recent appearance on The View, the Terminator actor spoke from his perspective as an immigrant who arrived from Austria in the 1960s, when he was just 21 years old, in search of a better life and greater opportunities for success. He also offered his commentary from his conservative stance in favor of the well-being of the United States.
Host Joy Behar asked him what he thought about the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids against migrants and if he had any reaction to seeing them unfold in Los Angeles. The actor responded thoughtfully, thanking him for being an immigrant in the United States. “You yourself are an immigrant, an immigrant to the country. Did you have a visceral reaction to what they’re doing, what ICE is doing?” Behan asked, to which Schwarzenegger replied: “Let me tell you—you said ‘immigrant’—I am very proud and happy to have been welcomed like this by the American people. I mean, in no other country in the world could you do that.” He continued: “All of this is thanks to the United States.”
