The leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, “El Mencho” or “The Lord of the Roosters,” died from gunshot wounds to the chest, abdomen, and lower extremities, according to death certificate number 3830 issued this Saturday by the Mexico City Civil Registry.
The document states the cause of death as “a combination of penetrating and perforating thoracic, abdominal, and lower extremity traumas secondary to gunshot wounds.”
It is also stated that the drug lord died on February 22, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in the municipality of Tapalpa, Jalisco, and that the body will be buried.
Similarly, it is reported that Oseguera Cervantes was born on July 17, 1966, in the state of Michoacán de Ocampo, without specifying the town, although it is known that he was born in the community of Naranjo de Chila, in the municipality of Aguililla, in the Tierra Caliente region of Michoacán.
Furthermore, it is indicated that he lived in a common-law relationship and that the death certificate is related to investigation file FED/FEMDO/FEIDCS-JAL/0000230/2026, which the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) opened following the operation last Sunday.
The record also includes the Unique Population Registry Code (CURP): OECR660717HMNSRB00; it has already been removed from the National Population Registry (RENAPO).
