The state of Sinaloa confirmed Wednesday morning the presence of criminal activity in the municipality of Escuinapa, in the southern part of the state.

According to information published by the Sinaloa Public Security Secretariat on its official Twitter account, “on December 17, 2025, a security incident occurred in the municipality of Escuinapa, where a roadblock was also set up.”

In response to these actions, authorities stated that the three levels of government comprising the Inter-Institutional Group were already taking action and recommended “avoiding the area if possible and following the instructions of the authorities deployed in the operation.”

Although the authorities have not released further information on the matter, the Green Angels department, which is in charge of providing mechanical assistance on highways, reported through its official X account the closure of the free highway between Mazatlán and Tepic due to a tractor-trailer fire.
