After 90 minutes of tension, América secured their place in the 2025 Clausura final and will fight for the fourth Liga MX championship against the Diablos de Toluca. With a 2-2 scoreline, the Águilas eliminated Cruz Azul, overturned the deficit, and once again took control of the youth derby.
With goals from Henry Martín and Cristian Borja, the Águilas reversed the negative situation they had on their visit to the Estadio Olímpico Universitario. From the start of the game, the Azulcrema team went on the attack to score the goals that would give them the victory.
André Jardine’s team had several scoring opportunities in the first half, even including a controversial play that called for a penalty in favor of the home team, but the VAR did not intervene and did not sanction anything.
It wasn’t until the 65th minute that Kevin Mier made a mistake defending his goal, and the penalty was awarded. Henry Martín took charge of converting from the penalty spot, opening the scoring for his team, as they were already behind thanks to Lorenzo Faravelli’s goal for the Celestes.
Later, Cristian Borja scored. With a header, he sealed Club América’s place in the final.
