A new episode of animal cruelty occurred at the Mérida Central Market, where a man was caught throwing poisoned food to stray dogs living in the area.

The incident occurred on the night of October 13th, when the man threw contaminated food with the aim of causing as much harm as possible to the canine population.
As a result, between 13 and 15 dogs cruelly lost their lives due to the effects of the poisons used to kill them.

The next day, the Central Market employees found the dogs’ bodies and filed a complaint against whoever was responsible. Hours after the complaint, local authorities announced the arrest of the alleged perpetrator of the dogs’ deaths, who was identified thanks to videos provided by the merchants themselves.

The alleged perpetrator, whose identity has not been revealed, was brought before the relevant authorities, who will prosecute him on charges of animal cruelty against dogs.
