Immigration attorney Mariel Colón Miró announced that she will now represent Mexican singer Alicia Villarreal in the United States. This announcement comes amid the controversy surrounding Villarreal, who is the target of attacks and statements from her ex-partner, singer Cruz Martínez.

Attorney Mariel Colón Miró was part of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán’s legal defense team during his trial in the United States. She later also joined the legal team of “El Chapo” Guzmán’s wife, Emma Coronel Aispuro. Her relationship with Coronel strengthened, to the point that Colón Miró helped her manage public relations during her time in prison and they even collaborated on a music video later.

Through her social media, the lawyer shared a message that generated a great impact. In her statement, she expressed her honor in representing “the great Alicia Villarreal” and made clear her goal of putting a stop to the attempts of “a man” to damage the singer’s reputation “with falsehoods and attacks.” This message is interpreted as a direct response to Carmona’s recent statements, who spoke publicly about her relationship with Villarreal and made comments about her.

Colón Miró, known for her work on Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán’s legal team and for defending producer Raphy Pina, did more than just announce her new client. In her post, she also expressed her solidarity with women who have faced injustice, emphasizing that strength does not lie in silence, but in the courage to speak out with dignity and seek support from the courts. This statement was perceived as a gesture of support for the fight for truth and justice for women, an issue of great social relevance.
