Alejandro Fernández will donate part of the proceeds from his concerts in the United States to flood victims in Texas, where more than 100 people have died and more than 160 are missing following the weekend’s rains.

The regional Mexican music performer will donate part of the proceeds from his concerts in the Texas cities of Fort Worth on September 6 and El Paso on September 7 to the families of those affected by the rains in Kerry County, just outside San Antonio, where two Mexicans are among the dead.

“As an artist, I have always sought to bring hope through my music; as a father, this tragedy at Camp Mystic breaks my heart,” Fernández said in a statement cited by media outlets such as Billboard, the Houston Chronicle, and Remezcla.

“That’s why I want to dedicate my concerts in Ft. Worth and El Paso to all the families who are experiencing this pain, and I want to do whatever I can to make a donation to support them,” he added.

The donation will go to Catholic Charities of San Antonio, which is coordinating humanitarian relief efforts in counties declared under emergency conditions due to the rains and flooding.
