A week after four days of intense rains devastated Veracruz, Hidalgo, Puebla, Querétaro, and San Luis Potosí, the emergency level has been reduced with the deployment of personnel and equipment for relief and recovery.

At least 52,000 public servants, almost 9,000 of them from the Armed Forces, are caring for victims, providing medical care, clearing roads, opening air bridges to reach isolated areas, distributing food supplies, and cleaning up neighborhoods, among other actions.

Thanks to the DN-III-E plan, 346 people were evacuated between October 9 and 16: 200 by air, 12 by lake, and 134 by land. The death toll rose to 72, and 48 are missing.

In addition, nearly 39,000 affected homes have been surveyed in 72 municipalities. The number of isolated communities has been reduced from 288 to 127, with Querétaro and San Luis Potosí now free of any isolated towns.

The CFE reports that general power restoration is at 95.4%, and service has already returned to normal in Querétaro.

President Claudia Sheinbaum visited municipalities in Veracruz to oversee cleanup work and support for the population, as well as the delivery of aid. This weekend, she will visit other affected towns to monitor the emergency.
