In three simultaneous operations carried out in Tamaulipas, security forces arrested four people allegedly part of the Gulf Cartel criminal cell, dedicated to arms and drug trafficking.
Sources close to the case informed EFE that the detainees are Juana María García, alias ‘La Conta’; Guillermo Gamaliel García Grimaldo; Aldri Jhair De La Cruz Flores; and Alán Alexis Figueroa Martínez. García is allegedly the operator of arms trafficking and money laundering activities for the criminal group.
Following an investigation by Mexican intelligence and surveillance at suspicious locations, they were able to locate “three properties in the municipality of Matamoros that were being used by a criminal cell to carry out illicit acts,” Mexican authorities reported in a joint statement.
In a simultaneous operation, agents executed search warrants in the Jesús Vega Sánchez and Moderno neighborhoods.
During the searches, seven firearms, magazines, 150 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, a vehicle, a safe, $20,600, six laptop computers, six telephones, and various documents were seized.
