On Monday morning, the remains of Rubén Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, “El Mencho,” leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), were taken to the Recinto de la Paz cemetery in Zapopan, Jalisco, under heavy security led by federal forces and the Mexican Army, a week after his death in the municipality of Tapalpa.

According to El Occidental, the white hearse carrying the remains departed shortly after 10:00 a.m. from the La Paz Funeral Home in the San Andrés neighborhood of Guadalajara, where the wake had been held the previous night. During the journey, official vehicles escorted the procession, and helicopters circled the route as part of the security operation. According to federal sources, the operation aimed to prevent violence or attempts by rival groups to approach the site.

According to El Occidental, the gilded metal coffin traveled 26 kilometers to the Recinto de la Paz cemetery, escorted by personnel from the Mexican Army and the National Guard, who blocked traffic and expedited the procession. Dozens of official vehicles remained deployed in the area, and vehicular traffic was restricted.

Among those who attended the funeral was Laisha Michelle, daughter of “El Mencho,” who arrived in a Jeep with her husband. According to El Financiero, the young woman is identified as the former partner of Christian Ochoa, “El Guacho,” one of the trusted men of the former leader of the CJNG, currently sentenced to more than 11 years in prison in the United States.
