President Donald Trump plans to name the controversial $300 million ballroom, which will be built on the site of the demolished East Wing of the White House after himself, ABC reported.
According to anonymous officials cited by the outlet, the president will name the ballroom President Donald J. Trump.
At a press conference on Thursday, Trump was asked by reporters what he would name the new ballroom and responded that he would not go into those details at this time.
The entire East Wing of the White House was demolished this week to make way for the 8,000-square-foot ballroom, which will seat up to 900 people and could open in 2026, during the 250th anniversary of the United States’ founding.
Trump brought together dozens of tech magnates and companies to fund the $300 million project, and during a dinner with the sponsors, he declared:
The White House released a list of sponsors of the new hall, and among them is the new ambassador to Spain, Benjamín León, owner of a Florida-based healthcare services company.
The list also includes tech companies like Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft, and other magnates, including oil magnate Harold Hamm, a financier of Trump’s political campaigns.
