President Claudia Sheinbaum reported that 23 Mexicans are detained in the United States following a raid by immigration authorities on an auto plant in Georgia.

During her morning press conference, the president detailed that of the 23 detainees, 13 have already requested consular support, although she emphasized that all have the right to request it.

She added that information is also being requested from Mexico to the US embassy and that migrant detention centers are being visited to verify the status of the Mexicans.

South Korea’s foreign minister departed for Washington on Monday to continue negotiations following the detention of hundreds of South Koreans in an immigration raid.

US immigration authorities detained approximately 475 people, including South Korean workers, on Thursday during a raid on a Hyundai and LG battery factory currently under construction in the state of Georgia, in the southeastern United States.

According to US authorities, the 475 detainees were “illegally present” in the country.
