Latin American artists came together in a video on Wednesday to denounce and express their outrage over Donald Trump’s anti-immigrant rhetoric. Trump, the former president and current Republican candidate for the U.S. presidency, has long been criticized for his divisive discourse.
In the video, musicians like Los Tigres del Norte, Paty Cantú, and Ximena Sariñana look directly into the camera and declare, “That’s enough.” The video features headlines about harassment, discrimination, and violence faced by Hispanic migrants in the United States—incidents that increased during Trump’s presidency, which legitimized racist rhetoric.
Other stars who joined in include Kate del Castillo, Los Ángeles Azules, Alejandro Fernández, Ramón Ayala, María José, Chiquis Rivera, Edén Muñoz, Río Roma, Paquita la del Barrio, and more.
Trump has vowed that if he wins the November election, his administration will carry out the largest deportations in U.S. history. He defends this plan, in part, by claiming that both legal and undocumented migrants are stealing jobs from African Americans and “Hispanic jobs.”
In his speeches, Trump continues to use fearmongering against migrants to rally support. On October 7, he even alleged that Latinos in the U.S. who have committed murders did so because “it is in their genes” and claimed that “there are many bad genes in our country right now.”
Trump to Latino voters: “Maybe we’ll get your vote. Sounds like maybe I won’t, but that’s OK, too.”
“You thought you were the devil, dude,” Cazzu sparks a stir with a brutal remark during her concert.
