Immigration statistics from the Ministry of the Interior (Segob) indicate that, from January to November 2024, a total of 189,560 foreigners obtained temporary or permanent residency in the country.

Regarding nationalities, the majority of foreigners who came to reside in the country are originally from the United States, totaling 26,083 people, of which 20,139 are temporary and the rest permanent.
Next on the list are Colombian nationals with a total of 19,380, followed by Honduras with 18,772, China with 12,973, and Cuba with 12,933.
The list continues with countries such as Guatemala, Venezuela, Argentina, Canada, El Salvador, and Spain.
However, migration has been so severe that the largest number of temporary and permanent residents were classified as “from another country,” with a total of 37,347 records.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, the increasing global mobility of people underscores the need to generate organized and detailed statistics that reflect the different movements to, from, and within Mexico, regardless of the motivation for moving within the country or settling there.
