A Guatemalan migrant spent more than eight hours up a tree to avoid arrest by immigration agents in San Antonio, Texas, USA.

From 10:00 a.m. local time (3:00 p.m. GMT), the man clung to the tree’s branches while a group of at least six agents, including three officers wearing balaclavas to cover their faces, waited below to arrest him, according to press reports.

Around 7:00 p.m. local time, the migrant, identified by local media as 29-year-old Raúl Ical, climbed down the tree and was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

In a statement, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem indicated that migrants in the United States illegally “will be deported.”

According to the San Antonio Express News, Ical had entered the US illegally on two occasions, for which he faces federal charges.
