After officially releasing Migrant Anthem, a song that aims to praise the work of Mexicans abroad, producer and singer Sergio Arau attended La Mañanera del Pueblo, hosted by President Claudia Sheinbaum, to announce the upcoming recording of the second part of the film A Day Without Mexicans. With the support of the Government of Mexico, he called on millions of migrants for their support in making this production a reality.
From the Treasury Room of the National Palace, the former member of Botellita de Jerez appeared via projection after responding to a call from an activist from the National Regeneration Movement (Morena). He emphasized that the central question for the sequel to the film, released 20 years ago, was not about what Mexico would do without the United States, but rather what the neighboring country would do without the presence of Mexicans. This question led him to ask his fellow countrymen for their support.
While the Los Angeles-based singer revealed the premise of the second part, which highlights the importance of migrants to the neighboring country, the email address undiasinmexicanos2@gmail.com was projected. This email collects the experiences of fellow countrymen who, in search of better opportunities, leave their homeland to perform essential work for another nation’s economy.
