Residents of the La Cofradía community in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, experienced tense moments on the morning of Friday, August 21, following reports of fresh clashes between armed civilian groups who allegedly used firearms and explosives.

According to locals, the blasts began in the early hours of the day, forcing residents to seek shelter inside their homes. Some reported that, given the intensity of the explosions, they had to take cover under their beds or in areas deemed safe to protect themselves.

The incidents were reported to the 911 emergency line, while area residents warned that this marked the second consecutive day of armed clashes between suspected members of rival groups.
Locals noted that gunfire and explosions had been reported in various parts of the area since Saturday, primarily along the stretch from the La Cofradía access road to the highway leading to El Recodo.

The situation also affected local mobility, as the bus service operating in the area had temporarily suspended its routes the previous day.
